Fitbit – A Reliable Fitness App
Fitbit for iPhone is a great tool for tracking your daily steps taken, water intake, calories consumed, and more. The app will work on most iPhones as well as certain iPads and iPods. This chart will help you determine if your device is right for what you are trying to accomplish.
Only the iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, and iPhone 6 Plus will work for MobileTrack which actually tracks your steps using motion sensors in the phone.
Why I Like It
I like the simple, easy to use, mobile interface. It is easy to input your data as well as see what you’ve already done. You can see how many steps you have taken, how much water you need to drink, and how many calories you have eaten. It also has charts to see your progress and past entries.
Once a week you can have an update sent to you with your weekly progress charted out in an easy to read format.
The whole experience has been “gameified” by giving you badges as you hit certain milestones. They start out easy at first but get progressively harder as you go. There are challenges that you can take part in as well.
Fitbit also integrates with other apps such as MyFitnessPal, Weight Watchers, Endomondo, RunKeeper, and many others.
The web interface that can be accessed through the Fitbit website is handy and easy to use. The website makes checking your stats and entering new data simple from your computer or when you don’t have your phone near by.
Issues to Watch Out For
The one issue I have had is inputting food. Some times it can be a little clunky. It will come up with options for foods it thinks I am trying to enter and I have to scroll through to find the right one. This isn’t a deal breaker. It is just a pain when it happens, but doesn’t happen all the time.
Changing devices can cause it to stop recording your steps too. If you upgrade you phone and restore from a back up you have to be sure to go back into the app and tell it to pull the step data from the phone.
Why You Should Use It
It’s a great app to use if you are into fitness or just want to track your steps throughout the day. It is easy to use and if you don’t have a compatible MobileTrack phone they sell many different motion trackers that are pretty affordable. The new trackers they are coming out with track your heart rate, sleep, and floors climbed.
If you need to lose weight or just want to track your activity through out the day I would recommend Fitbit.
